The New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery Association (NHVCA) is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Board of Directors and serve a term as Treasurer.  We are actively seeking to add a director who would be interested in a future 'treasurer' or 'assistant treasurer' role, but welcome other inquiries for membership!

Our Mission:

The New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery Association (NHVCA) is a voluntary non-profit organization that performs the following to enhance the mission of the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery:

  • Partners with the NHSVC Director and Staff to support operations and improvements.
  • Enhances public awareness and appreciation of the value of veterans and their service by maintaining the Veterans Heritage Learning Center, providing publications, hosting ceremonial events, and conducting other community outreach functions.
  • Accepts, manages, and expends funds and resources to support the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery.
  • Supports and partners with Veterans Service Organizations to benefit the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery.

Treasurer's responsibilities (20-30hrs/mth):

  • Compile data for the tax accountant, review the IRS Form 990, and approve each year
  • Create 1099s and issue them at the end of the year
  • Create an annual budget with assistance from the administrator, and enter it into QuickBooks
  • Produce Non-profit organization quarterly reports in QuickBooks and present to the board
  • Understand project tracking and use of restricted funds
  • Perform monthly journal entries in QuickBooks for several needed items, like releasing restricted funds, etc.
  • Manage a dozen accounts, including banking, investments, credit cards, and incoming donations
  • Coordinate with the donation database (data entry by others), reconciliation of monthly donations with QuickBooks
  • Coordinate with the bookkeeper, confirm that data is being entered correctly, and that transactions have the proper backup
  • Coordinate with the administrator on the entry of expenses/revenues for the bookkeeper
  • Coordinate with the Finance Chair on bank account reconciliation in QuickBooks
  • Must be familiar with fund accounting in QB
  • Create simple board reports with graphics
