Share Stories. Spark Curiosity. Be the Face of the Museum.
Volunteer Museum Educator - Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum
Museum Educators are the heart of the Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum (MKIM) experience.
As a Volunteer Educator, you are often the first—and most memorable—connection visitors have with the Museum. You welcome people into the galleries, help them navigate powerful stories from across Native North America, and respond to the curiosity that brings them through our doors. For many visitors, their conversation with an Educator is what transforms a visit into a lasting impression.
The Museum’s seven galleries span the continent geographically, highlighting the diversity, creativity, and continuity of Native life. No one is expected to know everything. Each Educator brings their own interests, perspective, and strengths, creating rich, thoughtful experiences for visitors of all ages.
Some Educators also lead tours in the Medicine Woods, sharing how Indigenous people have traditionally—and continue to—use plants for food, medicine, shelter, and craft. Others choose to deepen their involvement by helping with programs, workshops, and special events throughout the year. We work with volunteers to shape roles that align with their interests, comfort level, and availability.
Why This Role Is Special
