Examine and explore plant’s growth from seeds to flowers. Design a container maze and observe how plants grow inside a maze of sunlight. Educators will directly experience a sequence of activities that illustrate the wonders of the plant life cycle. Workshop participants will gain confidence with fundamental botany concepts and teaching approaches to actively engage young students with several NGSS science practices, including asking questions, collecting observations, and analyzing and interpreting data. Wild World of Plants is a 5-lesson curriculum designed for learners in grades 2nd-4th and aligned with NGSS Life Science PEs. Copies of the lessons will be made available to all workshop participants.
The workshop is suitable for all educators or people who work with youth. If you're interested in volunteering with UNH Cooperative Extension STEM Docents in the Manchester or Nashua areas, you must also apply to the program and attend the Foundations workshop in March.
