Join the Squam Lakes Association (SLA) from 10am- 2pm on Friday, May 18th for a spring island adventure on Squam Lake! As part of the SLA Adventure Ecology Program series, Lakes Region Conservation Corps (LRCC) AmeriCorps member, Becca Cohler, will lead participants out on the lake for a fun day at both Moon and Bowman Islands.
Participants will enjoy a boat ride to the islands, followed by an educational hike. On each island, Becca will take you out to the SLA campsites and beaches. Information will be provided about the work the SLA is doing to protect the Squam Lakes Watershed, how our low-impact composting system works, and where to catch the best sunset. All ages are welcome to participate in this program. Please bring wind resistant layers, comfortable walking shoes, and lunch. This is a great opportunity to explore these amazing areas that are only accessible by boat.
For more information, or to sign up for this Adventure Ecology Program, visit the SLA website (https://www.squamlakes.org/events/sla-island-excursion) or contact the SLA directly (603-968-7336). Every Friday these free programs are open to the public and cover a variety of nature and conservation related topics.
