Who We Are

Belknap County Conservation District's

Wetlands Walk

What We Do

Wetlands Walk boardwalk at Gunstock is wheelchair accessible and access is free. The boardwalk was built inn the mid 1990s by volunteers, the Student Conservation Association, Huot Technical HS in Laconia.  The Belknap County Conservation District works with soil, water and related natural resources providing guidance and demonstration projects to communities and landusers.  There are a variety of ways volunteers can help the conservation district from indoor work on mailings and computers to removing invasive plants from our county park, aka Gunstock, helping with stream restoration, and habitat improvements for people, fish and game birds. The Wetlands Walk boardwalk and attached paths need ongoing maintenance and we have volunteer days on the third Thursday and Saturday of the month from June - Oct.  Likely 3rd Saturday in April too, tend to have blackflies Fathers Day to Mothers Day, but minimal mosquitoes since the water is moving.
