Who We Are

Every child has potential. Our mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.

Our vision is that all youth achieve their full potential.

What We Do

Andrew Gibson will tell you, without his Big Brother he would not be where he is today. Andrew, a University of New Hampshire alumni and entrepreneur, was adopted by his Big Brother at 16 years old. His mother was battling cancer, his father was not involved in his life, and Andrew was headed down what he describes as a “rough road” before his Big Brother stepped in.

Andrew’s mentor helped guide him, shaped his way of seeing the world, and ultimately, changed his life. During college, Andrew decided to give back by becoming a Big Brother himself and joined the BBBSNH Board of Directors, where he serves as secretary. He shares his story with anyone who will listen: mentoring makes a difference.

Andrew is just one of tens of thousands of young people in the Granite State who have been shaped by the one-to-one mentoring program of Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire over the past 50 years. With the support of caring mentors, Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire (BBBSNH) is changing the lives of Granite State children for the better, forever. And the need has never been more pressing.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire provides two core one-to-one mentoring programs to youth, ages 6 to 17:

Community Based Mentoring BBBSNH matches carefully screened adult volunteer mentors (Big Brothers/Big Sisters) in professionally supported mentoring relationships with youth (Little Brothers/Little Sisters). Bigs and Littles spend quality time together participating in a variety of activities of their choosing.

Site Based Mentoring utilizes schools, after school programs, and workplace mentoring programs such as CCA Global Partners and Exeter Hospital as the venue in which the mentor (Big) and mentee (Little) meet.  Time is spent doing homework, enjoying lunch together, reading, playing a board game or outdoors on the playground.
