Who We Are
Welcome to the CCA!
MISSION STATEMENT
The CCA believes in the power of arts experiences to shape lives and strengthen community bonds.
To that end, CCA’s mission is to serve both area residents and virtual and in-person visitors from near and far through live dynamic engagements with performing artists that inspire, educate, and entertain, deepening human-to-human connections, expanding community vitality, and generating economic growth.
VISION STATEMENT
For nearly thirty years, the Capitol Center for the Arts has existed as the heart of community life, honoring the vision, drive, and hard work of those who gave new life to this historic venue, worked tirelessly to steward and expand our facilities and programming, and brought people together for the shared experience of live performance.
As we reflect on that legacy, we also acknowledge our responsibility to serve the changing face of our community, breaking down physical, economic, and cultural barriers to arts access and ensuring that there is “a seat for everyone” at the Capitol Center and the BNH Stage.
OUR COMMITMENT TO OUR COMMUNITY
• We will move our work beyond the walls of our two venues, exploring new avenues and opportunities for our community’s youngest residents, new Americans, senior citizens, families, and of course our dedicated base of existing patrons. We will strengthen community partnerships with organizations who are already deeply engaged in this work.
• We will fully utilize our venues to engage and attract traditional and new audiences through a broad approach of artistic programming that both reflects and serves the diverse voices of our community.
• We commit to ensuring free or affordable access to live and broadcast performances for young people for whom exposure to the performing arts may be limited.
• We will examine what constitutes art and artistic expression, broadening our programs to include culinary artistry, podcasts, and niche genres.
• We will continually improve the experience of our patrons, ensuring a wide range of accessible seating options, user-friendly technology for everything from ticket selection to concessions stand purchases, friendly and clear communications, and attention to patron safety and comfort.
• We will steward the needs of our two historic facilities, ensuring functionality, technology updates, structural safety, staff efficiency, and backstage improvements.
We recognize that our work is ongoing and must balance the stewardship of our rich history while also addressing changes in the performing arts landscape, the demographics of our community, and the needs of our patrons to ensure “a seat for everyone.”
What We Do
The Capitol Center for the Arts strives to bring communities together through the performing arts. Each season we host over 150 live performances in two venues in the heart of Concord, NH. In recent seasons, we have expanded our programming and stages to break down as many barriers to access as possible and offer art to all in the community.
