Volunteer: Landscaping needed

UpReach is a large property with a great deal of grass and fields to be mowed, gardens in need of weeding, etc.  Landscaping equipment is on property and provided by UpReach.  Volunteers need to be aware that there is poison ivy on the property.  Safety glasses and work gloves are provided.  Safe footwear is required.

Volunteer: Horse Leader for Therapeutic Riding Lessons

In therapeutic riding the leader is responsible for walking with and guiding the horse during the session. The leader is always aware of the entire team and directions given by all. The leader is asked to arrive 10-15 minutes early to check for last minute changes, get out necessary tack and prepare the horse for the lesson.  Previous horse experience is required.

Must be 14 years of age or older. Must complete all required volunteer paperwork. Must attend volunteer training session and Taking the Lead training Must be able to walk/jog in a lesson for approximately 40 – 60 minutes. (Walk Only options may be available) Must be able to commit 1 hour once a week (same day/time) for each term, or be classified as a “substitute” who is not placed on the schedule, but is available to fill in as needed. Must be able to be responsible for the safety of another person. Demonstrate the ability to safely control an equine. Ability to safely control and equine is determined by the instructor(s) conducting volunteer/Taking the Lead training.

Volunteer: Barn Volunteers needed!

Barn volunteers assist with a wide variety of task, including and not limited to, stall/run in shed cleaning, adding bedding as needed, providing clean water to horses inside and outside, sweeping horse aisle, de-webbing stalls and barn aisle, as well as other tasks to maintain barn cleanliness.  Volunteers may assist with putting hay in fields and turn out/turn in of horses as needed. No horse experience is necessary.  In order for volunteers to assist with moving horses to and from paddocks, they must attend a Taking the Lead training.
