Volunteer: Volunteer GreeterGreeters are the first person visitors meet when coming to the Warner House. Greeters welcome visitors, give a brief explanation of the museum, take admission and help to coordinate tours with the guide. Key tasks include providing a welcoming environment for visitors, taking admission (cash and credit - using the credit card machine), keeping records of visitors admissions, restocking brochures and shop items as needed, etc. This is great for people who enjoy history and talking with people but may not be able to physically give tours. The museum is open June through mid-October, Thursdays-Sundays from 11am to 4pm. Shifts can be 2.5 hours or 5 hours. This task can be done seated and in a climate controlled space. Built in 1716-1718, the Warner House is a National Historic Site and shares the stories of the 6 generations of Macpheadrises, Warners, Sherburnes, and Penhallows who lived in the house until 1930. The house became a museum in 1932 and has been open to the public seasonally since then. Fully furnished with period pieces, many of which are original to the house, guides take visitors through the house on tours that last about 45 minutes. Training is provided and the ability to stand for long periods of time, walk, and climb stairs is required. This is idea for people who enjoy talking with people and history.
