Volunteer: AARP Foundation’s Tax-Aide Is Looking for Volunteers ( Exeter)

Each year over 300 volunteers with NH Tax-Aide assist more than 19,000 taxpayers with their tax returns.  We are looking for compassionate and friendly people to join our volunteer team for the upcoming tax season.  We'll provide the training and support to help you learn new skills, and you'll get a great feeling from helping those in need.  This year we will continue to offer NO CONTACT or entirely VIRTUAL tax services while hoping to meet in person with volunteers and taxpayers once again. There will be an option for you if your situation permits.  We have many roles that don’t involve preparing taxes.  Are any of the following roles a good fit for you?

Tax Preparers/Counselors work with taxpayers directly by filling out tax returns.  If you have no previous experience, you’ll get the training you need and will also receive IRS certification.

Client Facilitators welcome taxpayers and assist with coordination of taxpayers at local sites, help organize their paperwork, and manage the overall flow of service.  Managing taxpayer appointments from the comfort of your home is also an option!

Technology Coordinators assist with site equipment, website development, network and/or WIFI setups, appointment scheduling and database set-up at the local and district levels.

Communication Coordinators recruit volunteers and market the program to prospective volunteers at the local level.

Administrative Coordinators assist with recordkeeping at the district level.

Tax law and software instructors are needed as well as those willing to present administrative policies and procedures.

Speak a second language? We have a big demand for bilingual speakers in all roles, especially dedicated interpreters who can assist other volunteers.

Thank you for your interest in the NH Tax-Aide Program. If you are interested in volunteering for the upcoming tax season, you can provide your contact information at aarpfoundation.org/taxaidevolunteer (preferred) or on this volunteernh.org site by clicking on Respond.  You will be contacted regarding the next steps.

Hello!

PostICU, Inc is a new 501(c)3 nonprofit agency.

We're working on an interesting project, to collect and organize a articles, studies, research and other materials about post intensive care syndrome ("PICS") and add them to our website.

COVID-19 patients, who survive following a stay in an intensive care unit often suffer from PICS. PostICU's mission includes educating the public about PICS, so that they will be aware of PICS symptoms experienced by former ICU patients, so that should they or loved ones have PICS symptoms, they will know to seek proper care.

We plan to share this new listing of articles with the public on our website and also at aftertheicu.org, a similar website to ours, which was created by one of the PostICU founders along with a team at Brigham & Women's Hospital.

We need your help with organizing our articles and other media into a template spreadsheet which once completed will be uploaded into an online, searchable database.

We hope to have 200 items to add to the spreadsheet, including a link to a PDF, or other type of file.

If you have experience using Excel or Google sheets, this volunteer position should be interesting and not take too much of your time.

If you enjoy working on this project, we have other projects that we need assistance with, including researching the internet for additional, helpful media.

Volunteer: Senior Companions Wanted

The senior companion program is looking for caring, healthy and enthusiastic people to look in on some of the isolated elderly in our neighborhoods.  If you are age 55, have a limited income, and can volunteer 10 hours weekly you might want to consider becoming that committed individual who will visit with two to five people in the community each week.  In addition to the wonderful feeling you will get from helping others, the program also provides a non-taxable stipend.  The non-taxable stipend means money that cannot be weighed against subsidized housing, food stamps or other government subsidies.  Other benefits of being a senior companion volunteer include: mileage reimbursement to and from the visitees home, training, paid snow/heat days and personal days, secondary insurance coverage, and recognition.

Just taking the time to visit with someone, who has found themselves alone because their kids have moved away, a spouse has passed on or their friends have chosen to live in a warmer climate can make all the difference in the world.  You can chose to make that difference to a visitee. Became a senior companion; it is easy.  Just call the offices of the Senior Companion program; a part of Community Action Program of Belknap-Merrimack Counties at 603-225-3295.  We cover the entire state of NH.

We cultivate an inclusive community by matching adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) with Peer Buddies who do not have a disability, in meaningful, one-to-one friendships. Friendship matches are based on likes/interests, age, and home location. This is a mutually enriching friendship opportunity for adults 18+ who want to make a difference in someone else's life through friendship and leadership. A background check is required and will be sent to you through Sterling Volunteers when Best Buddies Membership Application is completed. Time Commitment: Contact with Buddy once a week through text or email, and get togethers in person twice a month. You will be matched with a Buddy who lives in the same geographical region. There is an opportunity to attend periodic statewide events and activities for integrated community connections. Please contact us for more information!
