By sharing our information with the community we'll enable survivors of sexual & domestic violence, and stalking, to know how to reach out for help. This also means their loved ones (friends, family, neighbors) can also find us to get support. Lastly, it will enable businesses and other individuals in the community learn about HAVEN so that they can support our mission with financial donations, corporate sponsorships, or by giving time and talents as volunteers. We ask for a 1 year commitment of ongoing Outreach volunteers Complete 3 hour Outreach Volunteer training (offered 3 times a year/dates TBD) Once trained, to sign up for 1 activity per month. HAVEN, formerly known as A Safe Place and SASS, is one of the largest violence prevention and support services crisis agency in the state. HAVEN is dedicated to addressing public health through violence prevention and improving the well-being of children and families. Preventing abuse and providing support for those impacted by domestic and sexual violence can lead to healthier and more secure children and adults.
With an extensive service area, the agency relies on a team of dedicated staff and volunteers to who work in all capacities to support it's mission to end violence and change lives.
As a volunteer advocate, you will serve as a confidential source of support and information for those affected by sexual and domestic violence through our 24-hour hotline. In addition, advocates accompany survivors to the hospital directly after an assault has occurred or to the police station to report a crime.
If you wish to become a client services advocate, you are required to complete a 35-hour training that will prepare you to provide crisis counseling, support and advocacy. Through training, you will learn how to actively listen to clients’ needs, appropriately support them in a time of crisis and connect them with the resources that can best meet their needs. You will also be trained to help identify and examine the options that a survivor has at each of the different stages of healing.
You are not required to have any previous training in crisis work, only a strong desire to help those in need of services and a positive attitude. People of all walks of life encouraged to apply!
Volunteers are “on-call” from their homes on nights and weekends, and are required to cover at least 3 hotline shifts per month for a minimum of one year.
There are 3 advocacy trainings per year: February, June, and September.
Upcoming Volunteer Advocate Training will be in Sept. 2024
The Advocate Training will be a combination of a self-paced 16-20 hours of coursework through a rich, engaging, interactive virtual training platform and one weekend of an in-person intensive practicum, which is mandatory.
We ask that trainees complete the virtual portions of the training prior to the weekend intensive. Trainees will have several weeks to complete this prior to the in-person portion.
Location of the in-person intensive weekend is to be determined.
The in-person portion will take place on Sept 7 & 8 (9 AM-5 PM both days).

Responsibilities: Visiting a garden and picking up a piece of trash. Disposing at the landfill.
Benefit: Having a garden that is tidy creates a welcoming, relaxing, beautiful place to spend time, which translates to positive mental health.
Skills & Supplies needed: Driving to the community garden. Having a vehicle with a dump sticker. Working independently.

Event and Outreach Support Volunteers will work with the Staff at Darbster to coordinate event teams, help with logistics, assist staff load and unload the dogs from the van and any set-up/cleanup needed. Event and Outreach Support volunteers need to be 21+ with a clean driving record, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. We are going to create a rotating schedule with a team of cooks that are willing to each take a consistent Thursday each month.
We would purchase the ingredients and they would just need to be set up in a crockpot on Thursday mornings.
If you have cooking experience, this could be something that you could do at home. Cooking the food at home would require a brief food safety training and a reference.

Group activities are very important, as they ensure the girls maintain the connections they have made with other participants. Being a strong, supportive figure in these girl’s lives is key. We provide orientations and training for mentors, as well as meetings and discussions, to ensure we are providing our mentors with the support and resources they need. We also provide a fairly thorough matching process that takes interests, and distance into consideration. Mentor Commitment: -Meet with your mentee two times per month - Regularly communicate with your mentee's family, and Circle Program staff - Attend mentor meetings and training sessions - Commit at least 2 years to your mentee, and the program
Mentor Eligibility - Must be 21+ years of age - Must have a valid drivers license with proof of insurance - Must have reliable transportation - Must reside in the Lakes Region or Greater Concord area of NH, or be willing and able to travel there
