Help us celebrate the incredible creativity of New Hampshire's youth! We are seeking volunteers for our 2026 tournaments.
What is Destination Imagination?
New Hampshire Innovation and Creativity Connection (NHICC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to teaching students the creative process. We are the New Hampshire affiliate of the global Destination Imagination program, which offers project-based challenges for teams from kindergarten through university.
Our teams spend months working together to solve complex challenges in fields like STEM, fine arts, engineering, and service learning. They don't just find an answer; they create, design, and build their entire solution from the ground up, learning invaluable skills in creative and critical thinking, project management, and collaboration.
The Opportunity: Be an Appraiser!
As an Appraiser, you are the volunteer official who makes the tournament possible. You'll work as part of a small, supportive team to:
Watch teams present their unique solutions.
Evaluate their work using a pre-defined rubric.
Interview the team to learn about their creative journey.
Provide positive and constructive feedback to validate their hard work.
The philosophy of an Appraiser is to AWARD points for what the team has accomplished, not to deduct points. You are there to celebrate their process and creativity. No prior experience is necessary! We provide all the training you need to be a confident and effective Appraiser.
The Impact You'll Make
This is one of the most rewarding volunteer roles you will ever have. You are not just a "judge"; you are a mentor, an audience, and a crucial source of validation for these teams.
By giving your time, you are:
Building Confidence: Your positive feedback helps students believe in their ideas and their abilities.
Fostering Resilience: You are encouraging students who have spent months overcoming obstacles to bring their ideas to life.
Inspiring Future Innovators: You get a front-row seat to the incredible, out-of-the-box thinking of NH's youth, and you get to be the one to tell them, "Great job."
Volunteer Commitment
Training: Virtual training sessions (approximately 2 hours) will be held in the weeks leading up to the tournament.
Tournament Day: A one-day commitment on either (or both!) of the following dates:
Saturday, March 7, 2026
Saturday, March 14, 2026
