The Substitute Volunteer Receptionist provides front desk coverage at the Cashin Senior Center when the regular volunteer receptionist is unavailable due to vacations, illness, or other absences. This role supports the smooth operation of the center by greeting guests, answering phones, and assisting with basic administrative tasks.
Details:
Schedule: Shifts may be Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
Duties: Greet visitors warmly and direct them appropriately; answer and route phone calls in a courteous and professional manner; provide general information about center programs and services; assist with light clerical duties (e.g., filing, photocopying, distributing mail); maintain a welcoming and organized front desk area; communicate promptly with the Volunteer Coordinator regarding availability and schedule changes.
Schedule and Commitment: This is an on-call, as-needed position. Volunteers are asked to submit their monthly availability to the Volunteer Coordinator (e.g., at the beginning of each month). Assignments may be given in advance for planned absences, or on short notice in case of emergencies
Training Provided: All reception volunteers receive orientation and on-the-job training: use of phone system, copy machines and other office equipment as necessary. Staff are always available for questions or support.
