Albacore Park Submarine Museum is currently seeking part-time interns during the summer/fall 2021 season to assist with the day-to-day operations of our visitor center and store.  In addition, interns will track visitation, assist with the promotion of school group visits, offer guidance to visitors, participate in general store inventory and product ordering and placement. Training on the Point of Sale (POS) system and engagement with visitor orientation.  Interns will gain experience in visitor/customer services, adaptability and museum best practices for increasing the visitor experience. Interns must commit to one 8-hour day per week. The duration of the internship is flexible to suit the interns’ needs. Albacore Park Submarine Museum is currently seeking part-time interns to assist with education-based projects in the summer/fall semester 2021. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: -research, design and implementation of public programming which focuses on the Cold War Era as it pertains to submarine history and regional maritime history.  Research can include oral histories, the development of hands-on activities and creating an interpretation plan which incorporates all research findings.  The intern will report to the Executive Director and Chair of the Advisory Committee to review information and strategies.  Albacore Park Submarine Museum seeks highly motivated undergraduate and/or graduate students in the fields of historic preservation, history, museum studies, and education. Applicants should be curious, passionate, and exhibit an attention to detail. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: -Updating both the paper and electronic object records -Collections tasks related to the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions -Assisting in the accessioning of new acquisitions and deaccessioning of inappropriate collections -Researching the collection in preparation for public programs and upcoming -exhibitions -Assisting the Executive Director/Curator and Historic Archives Committee representatives in day-to-day collections maintenance tasks. PART-TIME

Maintenance and Repair Volunteers are needed weekly for grounds duties such as trimming,
weeding, trash removal, sweeping, cleaning, and painting projects. Behind the Event Scenes
Volunteers assist with event set-up, break-down and re-stocking/assistance during major events.
This can include tent set-up and break-down, chairs tables, tablecloths, electrical set ups, and
general all-around helper. Some activities are good for families, others for individuals. Archives/Research Division Volunteers become researchers, file, input data, and catalog various artifacts and archival materials for the Association.
Cataloguing/archival/research experience preferred

Education Program Assistants will be seasonal volunteers to aid with in-house education programs and activities, such as Home School Day, Family Day, Sub Day, Storytime and special workshops.  Can you imagine teaching Buoyancy, Morse Code, Flag communication, Medical Practices on board submarines and Virtual Reality?  
Specialized knowledge is not required and training provided .

Hello!  

Volunteers who provide museum operational, event and local information to visitors and registered youth groups. Tour guides perform free daily guided tours, weekly “Behind the Scenes” Tours, Memorial Garden and special scheduled tours. Museum volunteer experience and some knowledge of Navy procedures needed.  Training provided.  Greeting our guests is the most important part of this volunteer opportunity!  It's so much fun here.  Come on board!
