Second Chances is seeking a volunteer attorney to provide occasional guidance on nonprofit governance, policies, contracts, and general legal questions. We are a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit thrift and consignment store that provides vocational training opportunities for adults with disabilities. The time commitment is minimal, but your expertise could have a lasting impact on our organization's growth and sustainability.

Second Chances is seeking an Administrative Volunteer to help support our mission of providing job training opportunities for adults with disabilities. Tasks may include responding to emails, scheduling appointments, maintaining records, assisting with consignor communications, and other administrative duties. Most work can be completed remotely and on a flexible schedule. Even a few hours per month can make a meaningful difference.

Volunteer bookkeeper/accountant for approximately 5 hours per month to help a nonprofit thrift and vocational training program maintain accurate financial records.  Should be about to complete quarterly tax filings, payroll reports, etc for a 501c3.

This could be virtual or onsite.  Will require the use of your technology/device.

Safety & Ropes Team Member
Help manage the ropes and assist professional rappelling staff as participants rappel down a 24-story building! No prior experience necessary — full training is provided.

Event Day:
Tuesday, June 23, 2026

7:00 AM to 7:00 PM (or later) — meals, breaks, and snacks provided!

Mandatory Training:
Monday, June 22, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Bonus: Volunteers have the opportunity to rappel for free after their shift!

This United Way–sponsored event supports 25 nonprofit organizations from across New Hampshire. Each participant raises money for their favorite cause — and together, we raise nearly $200,000 annually for vital programs across the state.

Honor’s Legacy Bash is Walking With Honor’s annual community fundraiser, held in memory of Honor and dedicated to supporting our mission of rescuing shelter dogs and training them as service dogs for military veterans at no cost to the veteran. Join us for an afternoon of live music, local vendors, veteran resources, family-friendly activities, silent auction items, food, craft beer, and plenty of dogs. The event brings together veterans, supporters, businesses, and community partners to celebrate the bond between veterans and service dogs while helping ensure no hero walks alone. All proceeds benefit Walking With Honor’s programs and the Honor’s Legacy Fund, which provides emergency assistance for veterans and service dogs in need.

Red Cross Bloggers and Feature Writers are a part of a creative content volunteer team that creates professionally-written content for news releases, media alerts, and regional platforms including blogs, social media feeds, websites and other outlets.

In addition to being detail oriented we are seeking someone who is passionate about our Red Cross mission, has at least basic computer skills, and effective communication skills. Our Critical Home Repair program helps local homeowners complete essential repairs that improve safety, accessibility, and quality of life—allowing them to remain in the homes and neighborhoods they love. Projects may include wheelchair ramps, flooring repairs, accessibility modifications, weatherization, exterior repairs, and other critical home improvements.

We are building a roster of skilled volunteers who are interested in serving on an ongoing basis. Positions Available:

Description: Participate in participatory science here at Prescott Farm through NestWatch. This project is led by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology that tracks the reproductive biology of birds. Monitor and track nesting occurrences, clutch sizes, hatching success, and the number of surviving fledglings to help researchers understand how environmental changes and habitat loss affect breeding bird populations. 

Qualifications:

Training: Attend a NestWatch training provided by either NH Audubon or the Volunteer Coordinator. 

Safety: Wear appropriate clothing for walking in tall grass outside, long pants and sleeves, bug spray, sunscreen, and bring water!

Skills Days: 

Description: Our WildQuest camp for children ages 4-14, engages campers every summer in connecting with and learning about nature, while making some friends along the way. The wagon tractor driver volunteer helps round out each camp week by bringing our campers on a wagon ride around the property.

Commitment: One day per week for at least 4 out of 8 camp weeks Season: 8 camp weeks that run July-August

Schedule: Full day or half day every Tuesday from June 30th - August 25th

Training: Meet with applicable staff before camp starts to ensure a good fit for the role, introduction to tractor and additional resources as needed.

Safety: Team members are expected to bring and wear appropriate clothing for the conditions and activities they will be doing. This includes closed toed shoes, gloves, bug repellent, water, and sunscreen. Ensure safe practices when working around and driving the tractor.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at our 6th Annual Pickleball Tournament! We are so grateful for your time and support. 

Volunteers will assist with court management and scoring but don't worry - no pickleball experience is required! You'll simply be collecting player scorecards, tallying the total, and ensuring they are turned in to our tournament director, all while getting to enjoy the action! Additional volunteer tasks include assisting with parking, event setup, event teardown, and other event needs. Volunteer shifts are available Saturday and Sunday. You may fill multiple shifts if desired. Volunteer training will be provided on site.

For years many of our elderly and disabled recipients have taken pride in maintaining their homes. Now, because of physical frailty or illnesses they cannot accomplish even the simplest tasks. Volunteers can help with items such as cleaning counter areas, vacuuming, dusting, and laundry. Many combine visiting with the person while doing their tasks. Caregivers seeks to help those who have difficulty.  All volunteers are asked to complete an application process that does involve reference checks. Knowledge of any disability that might affect ability to perform service would be helpful.

Getting to medical appointments is critical for the elderly and disabled. Offering your time, once a week, for a couple of hours can ensure that these critical appointments are covered. Rides occur weekdays only. Community Caregivers of Greater Derry assists the elderly and disabled maintain independence and quality of life in their homes.  Community Caregivers of Greater Derry has an application process, which includes reference checks. Volunteers will also be requested to supply a driver's license and active vehicle insurance.

Our Loaner's Closet for Durable Medical Equipment repurposes donated equipment to those in need.  Often times the items that are donated need a little TLC before they can be cleaned, sanitize and sourced out again.

We need a couple handy guys to come in a couple times a month to help fix equipment.

Being independent is a matter of pride for many of our elderly and disabled individuals. Yet, the basic need of obtaining food can sometimes be difficult to attain. Volunteers can assist our elderly recipients by transporting them to the store, reading labels, reaching items or ensuring correct money transactions. In some instances, the volunteers may do the shopping for the individual because they are unable.  All volunteers must go through an application process that does require reference checks. For those considering taking a person to the store a driver's license and active vehicle insurance is required.

Part of what we due at Caregivers is to help the elderly and disabled live safely in their homes. Sometimes that means helping with small projects like weatherization, changing light bulbs, etc...but sometimes they do not have the means to fix large problems such as plumbing work, rook work and electrical problems. We need handy volunteers that have a couple hours a month to assist us. Volunteers must be over the age of 21. You must list two personal reference and complete our orientation process. Tradesmen are encouraged to participate.

United Way of Greater Nashua holds regular drives for menstrual supplies and other personal care items at Hannaford in Hudson, 77 Derry Rd, on the 2nd Sunday of each month. The hours are 10am to 1pm between April and the end of December. The hours are 12pm to 3pm between January 1 and March 31.

Up to 8 volunteers are needed for each drive date. One volunteer will pick up supplies before the drive from bins behind the United Way office at 20 Broad Street, Nashua. Volunteers will be offering flyers to interested shoppers and encouraging them to purchase extra items to donate. At the end of each drive, volunteers will bring the supplies and donations back to the United Way office.

Donations collected at these drives will be used to supply "Rosie's Pantry", United Way of Greater Nashua's free women's hygiene cabinet hosted by Girls Inc. in Nashua.  These donations will also supply period  pantries at 23 other local nonprofits. Donations to Rosie's Pantry may also be made through our wish list HERE.

United Way of Greater Nashua hosts food drives every Saturday from 10am to 1pm through the end of December. Food drives between January 1 and March 31 will run from 12pm and 3pm.

Volunteers distribute flyers to interested shoppers, listing needed items in the hope that they will purchase additional products to donate. The collected items are then donated to a different local food pantry after each drive. Volunteers will set up at one or two store entrances depending on how many people register to help on a particular day. You can choose to only volunteer on one weekend or on many.

One volunteer at each drive will be responsible for picking up supplies from the United Way office at 20 Broad Street in Nashua on the Friday preceding their food drive and returning them after the drive along with the food collected.

“Gleaning” is the time-honored tradition of sharing the extra food left in a field after the harvest. Willing Hands gleaners visit local partner farms and orchards to collect fresh vegetables, berries, apples, and mixed produce directly from the fields. Locations include Cedar Circle Farm, Crossroad Farm, Edgewater Farm, Hill Farm, Green Dragon Farm, Riverview Farm, Whitman Brook Orchard, and many more.

For more than 18 years, volunteers have been growing organic vegetables at our main Willing Hands Garden, hosted by Cedar Circle Farm in East Thetford, VT. We meet regularly throughout the growing season to do any and all tasks required to grow amazing produce for those struggling to put enough food on the table. We plant, weed (and weed some more!), fertilize, harvest, wash, and crate thousands of pounds of vegetables. Over the past several years, we have increased the acreage (now at multiple sites!), productivity, and variety of produce we grow—from the ordinary (peas and carrots) to slightly more exotic (ground cherries and watermelon). We provide all the necessary training and tools but frequently volunteers bring their own favorite work gloves, along with water to drink.

Our regular work sessions are: Tuesday mornings 9:00-11:00 am, Thursday afternoons 4:00-6:00 pm, and Saturdays from 9:00 am-11:00 am at our garden in East Thetford, VT.; Tuesday afternoons 5:00-6:30 pm at our garden in Norwich, VT; and Wednesday afternoons, 3:00-6:00 pm at our garden in Hanover, NH. We work (light) rain or shine, just not when it is pouring rain or thundering. We call or email if a work session is cancelled due to weather. Volunteers come when they are available, even if it is only occasionally; there are no commitment requirements, but we know you’ll have a great time with this group! Sierra Club New Hampshire Chapter is looking for Chapter Treasurer candidates. The chapter treasurer works collaboratively with the Chapter Director and the elected volunteer member board called the Executive Committee. The chapter treasurer maintains the financial accounts and monthly reports of the Concord-based non-profit organization. The chapter treasurer is not alone. Rather, we collaborate!

The Chapter Treasurer will be using online tools such as QuickBooks, credit card software, Salesforce, and NetSuite. We welcome a retiree who would like to maintain their skills or a person with interest in financing and budgets to gain new skills. Purpose:

Donating blood saves lives for those who have been in an accident, in need of surgery or a transfusion.  In order to keep up with demand, the Red Cross needs 13,000 donations a day!!  We need volunteers to make these blood drives a success. 

Responsibilities:

Greet donors, explain the donation process as necessary and assist with initial intake and hand offs through the blood donation process

Manage donor flow at temp taking station to ensure only donors passing temp screen are permitted access. Explain purpose of temperature screen to donors and ensure they understand reason for deferral if applicable

 Direct donor to next step of donation or options for future donations if deferred. Model excellent customer service behaviors

Ensure blood donors have relevant information and that questions are answered appropriately while creating a favorable impression of the blood donation process

Learn and share the Red Cross story, including the mission, vision, and values

Provide customer service to donors in the Hospitality Area by ensuring that each donor is recognized for his/her contribution

Report possible adverse post-donation physical reactions to the collections staff

Set up and maintain cleanliness in Reception and Hospitality Areas, and Donor Areas/Beds as requested

Work with collections team supervisor or charge staff to match donor’s blood type with the best product for maximum impact Responsible to inform donors of current and upcoming donation promotions

May make reminder/cancellation calls, re-schedule donor appointments, and perform follow up activities as directed

Time Commitment:

Must be able to commit to a minimum of one 5 Hour Shift per month. Blood Drives are generally held on weekdays Monday-Friday(s) with the occasional Saturday/Sunday(s) between the hours 8am – 7pm. You can find book-sharing boxes near you using our world map or free mobile app. Volunteers over 18 anywhere in the U.S. where there are Little Free Libraries can register for this opportunity.

HOBY NH is looking for volunteers ages 21+ to serve as Senior Facilitators (SFs) at our 2026 Youth Leadership Seminar, happening June 11-14 at Saint Anselm College. SFs supervise a group of 10-12 high school sophomore students, and a Junior Facilitator (JF) with whom they guide group discussion. They are also responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the group. Training will be provided so no prior experience is necessary, though previous facilitation/leadership experience is helpful. Meals and housing at St. A's are also provided for the duration of the seminar.

About the Workplace Safety Specialist/Trainers:

Are you organized, like people, and passionate about safety and equity?

Educators take notice! Safety Specialist volunteers will help OP Safety and Compliance Officer build and deliver training for the Ogunquit Playhouse safety plans and evacuation plans.

Some specialists will train our visiting design and production crews, as well as our actors and other volunteers in safety plans for various buildings on and off our campus. Trainings will happen throughout the season when new show companies arrive.

Other safety specialists may assist in writing, finalizing approved training to be delivered by trainers. Other safety specialists could update our Safety Training database to ensure all volunteer and paid staff have received and are up to date on their training.

Safety trainings will include Emergency Evacuation training, Active Attacker training, and more. 

Safety Specialists will work together to ensure records are current for staff who have or have not had various trainings, and will follow-up with scheduling.

Childcare Volunteers support mothers at Lydia’s House of Hope by providing safe, attentive, and engaging care for their children during scheduled programs. Volunteers help create a positive and welcoming environment where children can play, learn, and feel secure. All volunteers 16 years or older must complete a background check prior to volunteering.

Trip Chaperones support staff members during off-site trips by helping supervise residents and children, ensuring safety, and assisting with logistics. This role helps create a smooth, enjoyable, and well-organized outing for everyone involved.

Key Responsibilities

-Assist the staff member in supervising the group and ensuring no one wanders off

-Help keep track of residents, children, and belongings during outings

-Drive the organization’s 12-passenger van or another vehicle (please notify staff if you are not comfortable driving)

Position Overview Resident Transportation Volunteers provide safe, supportive transportation for residents of Lydia’s House of Hope to scheduled appointments and approved destinations. This is an on-call, as-needed volunteer position. When a transportation need arises, a Lydia’s House staff member will personally contact volunteers to ask about availability. Volunteers are never obligated to accept a ride request. As a volunteer, you always have the right to say no based on your availability.

Responsibilities

-Provide transportation for residents to and from approved appointments or destinations

-Drive directly to the designated location and back without making side stops   

-Maintain a respectful, supportive, and professional presence during transportation

-Follow all Lydia’s House of Hope volunteer policies and transportation guidelines

Volunteer Drivers are needed to help individuals who are blind and visually impaired.

Transportation is an essential part of living independently. Future in Sight is looking for volunteer drivers to help our blind and visually impaired clients by providing rides to medical appointments, the grocery store, and for essential errands. This is a very flexible opportunity. Volunteer drivers select rides based on their preferences and availabilities. A small amount of time makes a big impact.  Mileage reimbursement is available.

As the first friendly face that members and visitors see, the Volunteer Receptionist plays a vital role in creating a welcoming environment at the Senior Activity Center. This role supports day-to-day operations by providing information, answering phone calls, and assisting new and prospective members.

Details:

Schedule: Shifts available Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Ideally, volunteers commit to one or more full or half day shifts per week, or are able to commit to being an ongoing substitute.

Duties: Greet members, visitors, and guests warmly as they arrive; answer incoming phone calls and direct them to the appropriate staff; provide basic information about center activities, services, and membership; lead informal tours for prospective members and guests; help new members with registration and assist all members with sign-in at the kiosk; orient new members and make them feel welcome; assist with paperwork such as collating newsletters; keep the front desk area tidy and organized; assist members with signing up for new programs; collect payment for programs (handling money); notify staff of any concerns or special needs shared by visitors or members; enter and maintain new member data.

The Substitute Volunteer Receptionist provides front desk coverage at the Cashin Senior Center when the regular volunteer receptionist is unavailable due to vacations, illness, or other absences. Prisoner Visitation and Support (PVS) is the only organization authorized by the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the Department of Defense to visit any prisoner in the Federal and Military prison systems. The primary focus is on seeing those prisoners with an acute need for human contact -- those prisoners without regular visits, those serving long sentences who are far from home, those in solitary confinement and on death row, and those who are frequently transferred from prison to prison. PVS visitors let the prisoners set the agenda for what they discuss.

Though 143 years old, Webster House just installed its first donor database, Network For Good, four years ago. Over this time the database has been inconsistently managed making accessing data that is essential to Webster House's growth and mission very difficult.  We need help re-organizing the database which requires routine data management and data entry. Admittedly, these tasks are unglamorous but essential to our mission. If you like detailed work, correcting obvious typos and making things consistent and logical (for example - St./Str./ St/ or Street?) then you'll love this volunteer opportunity.

The Windowdressers Nashua team are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator. This position organizes participation at the week long Community Build event that will be held in Nashua in the fall. Tasks involve ensuring that shifts at the Build are staffed with volunteers/participants and confirming that all participants receiving inserts through the program, have signed up to participate for the appropriate number of shifts.

The Windowdressers Nashua team are looking for a volunteer Outreach Coordinator. This position helps to market the program in their local community, attracting order requests for our insulating internal window inserts, as well as other volunteers to help build inserts. The position works with other team members to share promotional materials, table at local events, inform local media about the program and create a social media plan.

Help a child succeed in school! Learn United is seeking caring volunteers to support students in grades K–12 with math, reading, science, or general homework help.

Volunteer as a Tutor
Work one-on-one (or in small groups, if you choose) with students who need extra support—whether for a few sessions or the full school year. You choose the age group, subject, and schedule that works for you. Teaching experience is helpful, but certification is not required.

Volunteer as a Session Monitor
Monitors provide a second adult presence to ensure a safe, supportive environment during tutoring sessions. This is a great option if you enjoy being around kids but prefer a lighter role—you can read, work quietly, or do crafts during sessions.

Tutoring typically takes place after school and may be in-person or virtual, with some opportunities during school hours or weekends. In-person sites include community partners such as the Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, Nashua PAL, Girls Inc., Nashua Public Library, Salvation Army, and United Way of Greater Nashua.

All volunteers complete an annual background check.

The Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum (MKIM) sits on 12 acres of scenic New Hampshire hillside, with trails, gardens, and beautiful views of the Mink Hills. We are seeking volunteers to join our Grounds Committee and help care for the land, keep the Museum welcoming, and bring new projects to life.

This year, one of our most exciting initiatives is the Accessible Trail through the Medicine Woods. Volunteers will have the chance to:

Select and plant native species along the trail

Help design and install interpretive signage

Participate in the ribbon-cutting celebration

Committee work also includes maintaining trails, caring for our 60-species Arboretum, managing plantings, and keeping the grounds safe and inviting for visitors of all ages. Whether you enjoy light landscaping, mild manual labor, or planning and organizing, there’s a place for you.

We are seeking Trustees who are ready to be active contributors.

Trustees are expected to:

Attend events and serve as ambassadors for the Museum

Advise and support the Executive Director in implementing strategy

Average commitment: 4–8 hours per month (with flexibility for deeper involvement)

There is no required minimum gift. Trustees are asked to make MKIM a philanthropic priority and to give annually at a level meaningful to them. Full Board participation in giving is essential to institutional credibility.

Experience in finance, legal, development, IT, or digital marketing is welcome—but commitment, curiosity, and a willingness to engage matter most. Interest in Native history and contemporary Native issues is important; prior expertise is helpful but not required.

We are particularly interested in people in Central New Hampshire who have financial, planned giving, non-profit administration, or fundraising backgrounds to complement our current Board members.

The Gardening Team is responsible for the care, cultivation, and maintenance of the Learning, Heritage, and Perennial Gardens. The gardens provide opportunities for our Community Connections Program participants and campers to learn about gardening and gain hands-on experience. Produce is used in educational tasting, cooking, and nutrition programs designed to help community members of all ages connect with the natural world while learning about where their food comes from. Volunteers will be matched with a group that fits their schedule and led by a Lead Gardener to complete weekly tasks in the garden. Volunteers can expect to gain hands-on experience cultivating these gardens at Prescott Farm and join a great community of volunteers.

Commitment: Preferred 1x per week for one season

TASC Rides' volunteers help people maintain their health, independence and dignity by providing rides to eligible residents (age 55+)  in Brentwood, East Kingston, Exeter, Greenland, Hampton, Hampton Falls, Kensington, North Hampton, Rye, Seabrook, and Stratham. By becoming a volunteer, you’ll deliver a meal, provide a friendly visit, and offer a safety check to homebound and disabled adults who may not have contact with another person all day. You’ll join more than 250 local volunteers and more than two million others nationally - working collectively throughout the U.S. to make sure the older adults who took care of us aren’t forgotten, hungry or alone. It doesn’t take much from each of us to improve the lives of so many. Together, we can make a huge difference for the homebound and disabled adults in our community.

Just a few hours of your assistance, typically between 9:45 am and 12 pm can help your neighbors remain healthy and live independently at home.

We currently have a need for a driver on Mondays.

Our office is in Peterborough, but we do have a meal pick up location Antrim, so you do not need to drive to Peterborough to pick up your meals.

Assist children in their education by helping them complete their homework after school.

ACTS - Assistance Canine Training Services raises and trains service dogs for people with mobility disabilities and for facilities that use dogs for animal assisted therapy. ACTS is a volunteer driven organization and at the center of the program are the puppy raisers.

All weekly required puppy raiser trainings are held at Telling Tails Training Center, Center Conway, NH or in the greater Mount Washington Valley (North Conway).  All puppy raisers must attend these trainings.

Short Term Puppy Raising

2-6 month time commitment

Generally, paired with a puppy that is ~8-10 weeks old

Possibility to become full term puppy raiser

Long Term Puppy Raising

18-24 month time commitment, varies depending on age of dog when paired

Puppy raisers commit up to two years to the socialization and training of a puppy. They generally receive puppies at the age of eight weeks, although occasionally puppy raisers may receive older puppies. The commitment involves a willingness to learn, spend time in training classes, spend time socializing the puppy in public places, and a great deal of heart.

Puppies live in puppy raiser homes as a part of the family. They must learn how to behave both at home and out in public. Training and socialization are very important and raisers must be willing to work with puppies using the guidelines set forth by ACTS.

We consider puppy raising to be not only an individual endeavor, but also a group project. We practice in group classes and puppy raisers are encouraged to enjoy the company and assistance of other raisers by practicing in teams or in small groups.  Each ACTS volunteer is considered an important part of every graduating team whether they were the puppy raiser or not. Everyone is invited to attend graduation and celebrate the teams that complete their training.

Sometimes our puppies let us know that they are not suited for service dog or facility therapy dog work, in which case they are placed as either as Detection Dogs (explosive, narcotics, electronics or arson) or Dream Dogs (adoptable pet dogs) with appropriate families. Our ACTS family is proud of all of our dogs and we celebrate the placement of each of them.

Puppy raising can be one of the most fulfilling volunteer opportunities available. Seeing how the life of an individual can be changed by a dog is an amazing experience. In addition to the joy that is seen in the end-product, puppy raisers grow and learn in their dog training skills. They create new and often long-lasting friendships. They meet and work with some wonderful dogs. And finally, there is that feeling that can only come from giving of yourself and your time to others.

Puppy raisers must be at least 15 years of age.

No prior experience is required. We provide on the job training!

Puppy raisers are NOT responsible for expenses relating to dog food, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and veterinary care.
