On Tuesday, February 6th, join SLA AmeriCorps member and conservation professional, Meghan Christie, on a guided hike to the summits of West Rattlesnake and East Rattlesnake via the Rattlesnake trail network. This is a fabulous opportunity to check off trails for the Squam Ranger Challenge (hiking all 50+ miles of trails maintained by the Squam Lakes Association). The summits of West and East Rattlesnake offer stunning panoramic views of Squam Lake and the surrounding watershed. Snowshoeing and winter hiking are both excellent ways to make your Squam experience year-round! Meghan is very excited to get to know you, and serve as a resource to connect you further to the mission and work of the Squam Lakes Association.
We will be meeting at the West Rattlesnake Trailhead/Parking Lot located off Route 113 in Holderness at 12:30pm, and are expecting to return to the parking lot by 3pm. This hike will be a total of 4 miles, and will feature some elevation changes. Due to recent weather conditions, either micro-spikes or snowshoes will be necessary for the hike. The Squam Lakes Association has snowshoes available to lend to participants. All levels of snowshoe experience are welcome. Participants should be dressed properly and prepared for any type of inclement weather.
