Who We Are
Supporting Families Uprooted by SMI/SBD
Founded in 2014 as a nonprofit, our mission is to fill the void in community awareness, service delivery, and education of those affected by the serious mental illness/brain disorder of others. Through our multimedia website, there are training resources, modules for families and caregivers, and opportunities to acquire the skills needed to navigate this frightening landscape. The organization responds to the needs of those it serves by adding programs and resources regularly. Starting out with basic skills, GASF now offers support groups for those family members uprooted by a family member's diagnosis and for those parents who have survived a child's suicide. There are published booklets on amazon. Most services are complimentary. For customized family life education support, there is a coaching component. There is also a mentoring component for professionals to advance their skills and improve their effectiveness.
